Born in London, England, Mike immigrated to Canada just prior to his tenth birthday and was raised Leamington, Ontario on the shores of Lake Erie. He joined the Army at 16 as a private soldier under the Canadian Army Soldier Apprentice Program. After completing the two year program, he graduated and became a gunner in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery. Over almost four decades in uniform, Mike progressed from a teenage soldier to the Army Commander. Along the way, he developed deep, well formulated opinions on warfare, people and talent management, driving change, and many other topics related to the profession of arms.
